Orgran Buckwheat Pasta
Yay! I just got some non gluten pastas from iHerb! I order so much stuff from this website because I can hardly get what I want in Thailand… I order my protein powders, supplements, hemp seeds, everything! Most of the time they offer free shipping which is a great help, and with the USPS, you hardly have to pay the custom duty, which can be costly. Sure you have to wait for many weeks but it is worth it.
Here is what I got!
Organic Quinoa Spaghetti by Now Food. You can order this from iHerb. I just wrote a separate post on this spaghetti – I strongly recommend this! This one has no corn, no soy. Just made from rice, quinoa and amaranth.
Andean Dream Quinoa Pasta: wow, made with organic Bolivian Royal Quinoa! I ordered it because my hubby is corn-intolerant. Actually he is intolerant to rice as well, but sorry, there is no non-gluten noodles without corn nor rice – so this is something he has to compromise if he wants to eat it! You can order this at iHerb as well! I haven’t tried it yet…
So far I cooked some pasta using Orgran’s buckwheat pasta.
It was surprisingly tasty, not what I expected from non gluten pastas, which are supposed to taste disgusting. The pasta was pretty soft though, compared to the quinoa pasta. When I drained the water in a strainer, lots of pieces of pasta remained hanging if you know what I mean.
I made some simple sauce using fresh zucchini, tomatoes, aubergine, garlic and home ground grass fed beef. Half a table spoon of olive oil, no sugar. God how much sugar I used to add to all my sauce before….!!!
It is pretty important to cook al dente because these pastas tend to go soggy. Then you’d be better off eating a jar of baby food!
What are your favorite non gluten pasta brands? Would love to hear from you! (But not corn not soy, my man is intolerant to corn, and I am not so fond of soy anymore).
