32 weeks pregnant! 40 more days to go!
Today I am 32 weeks 2 days pregnant. The time has been passing so quickly…. So far I’ve managed it well, my total weight gain up to this point is still less than 8kg, and I really have no observed that I have put on fat on my body. No back pain nor fatigue, just a bit of water retention, that’s it! Except the time when I suffered from morning sickness, my weight gain has been constant, too.
I believe that I never really had those crazy food craving because I’ve kept my carb intake low to moderate, so that my blood sugar level never raised above certain level, i.e. no craving for sugar. My fat intake was always above 60% and I was always satisfied with what I have eaten. My sugar intake has been also limited between 25g-30g a day.
Inability to sleep has been the only problem I have been experiencing (waking up 2-3 times a day), but every day I wake up before 7am and I feel very energetic. I have a good mental focus throughout the day, and if I feel good, I do some weightlifting or do some running until I break some sweat. I asked my doctor up to what point I should stop running. He laughed and told me to walk instead. I guess I wasted my breath asking him such a stupid question…. lol. I know my body the best, and I should just keep on going until I cannot!
[Sunday my stomach did not feel so well so I did not eat so much, but this only happened few times during the third trimester]
Until now I’ve kept on going with the intermittent fasting with a cup of matcha green tea with 2 tablespoons of ghee, a scoop of marine collagen and 1 teaspoon of MCT oil until lunch. But the last few weeks I’ve got a bit more appetite in the morning so I have been eating up to 30g of my most favourite, pili nuts (which has almost no carb and full of great fat) with Himalayan salt or a bit of thickened milk kefir to supplement my appetite.
From today on, I think I want to try eating a proper meal in the morning and see how it goes. My baby seems to weigh around 1.9kg already so he still needs to put on something like 1.5kg until he is born. I just want to make sure that I eat a bit more protein to make sure he gets everything he needs.
This breakfast had a net carb of 6g, lots of great fat. 2 medium sized eggs, ghee, pili nuts, avocado and MCT oil provide 62g of fat. The eggs and Mostbroeckli (air dried beef from Switzerland) provide healthy protein. The only thing missing is good amount of vegetables but that’s something I am going to eat for lunch and dinner. This afternoon I am planning a 15 mins run plus a good weightlifting session, so it is going to be a good day!
[2 hours have passed after eating the meal – hmmm I think it was a bit too much!!!! hahahaha]
Oh, I just wanted to talk about pili nuts briefly here! It’s been our favourite nuts for the last few months. It is the ultimate fat bomb, which hardly contains carb! It is a bit like macadamia nuts. They grow mainly in the Philippines on rich volcanic soil.
The nutritional contents are amazing.
The best way to eat them is to sprout them and dehydrate them at low temperature. So far I’ve tried a few brands and the one from the US is great, but together with shipping, the price is far too expensive. Most of the pili nuts available from the Philippines are honey glazed or fried, even roasted one is done above 100 degrees. That would definitely damage the quality of fat contained in the nuts!
I found a few suppliers directly in the Philippines so now I am trying to import them to Thailand and process them by ourselves, this way we have an affordable source of pili nuts to us, we can help the farmers directly! I’m sure that many health conscious people in Thailand would appreciate eating these fabulous nuts, too! I’ve been trying to flavour them with different things…. my favourites: chili, Okinawan sea salt and kefir lime leaves, and rosemary and Okinawan salt! So good!
That’s it for today. I have so many things to share but I’ve been very busy with a new company launch… xo
