Hemp milk – easiest non dairy milk to make
Only takes 5 minutes, no fuss!
These are organic hemp seed hearts from Manitoba in Canada. I like this brand a lot, it is perfect for making milk. If you just eat them, you may find some shells annoying, but hey, consider it as good fiber!
The beauty of hemp milk is, you do not need to soak it for hours before you blend it. You can do it when you need it, even in mini portions! I used to make all kinds of nut milks – but you have to soak them at least overnight. Soy – you even have to cook it! What a stress!!!
On top of that, hemp milk is super healthy. No, it has no THC, which is found in marijuana so it will not get you high. But the nutrients it offers! WOW! Incredible! Check these out!
- Well-balanced source of Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids. The proportion is very important! Hemp scores very high! (2 and 3 parts omega 6 to 1 part omega 3, close to 4 to 1 ration recommended by the WHO)
- Rich in minerals such as magnesium, calcium, iron, potassium, riboflavin, folic acid, zinc and thiamine.
- Contains 10 essential amino acids, one of the best profile for vegans.
Use a piece of cheese cloth and filter the pulp! This pulp can be used in baking etc.
It’s possible that this is a picture of hemp milk yogurt! but you get the picture I hope…. the milk itself can be kept in the fridge for a few days. So don’t make so much. Normally I just make what I need for that particular moment.
