Which lean protein for me?
My meals used to consist of lots of egg white and non-fat Greek yogurt. It was so easy – they were super lean high protein food. So now that they are GONE from my food list, there aren’t that many things I can go for.
- Hydrolyzed whey isolates: no lactose, no casein. no fat no carb. This is definitely my favourite source of lean protein I incorporate in my diet, but I intend to replace it slowly with plant-based protein powder.
- Lean seafood: actually there aren’t many I can eat – calamari, crab meats and shrimps. That’s about it.
- Lean meat: only eat beef, so that would be beef filet. I only eat grass-fed/pasture fed beef.
I wish I could eat other things more often but I am such a fussy eater, I cannot. I am traumatized from my childhood experience that I cannot eat chicken at all. White fish – I just hate the texture. Tofu – I like it a lot, but I try to stay out of soy products right now.
Thankfully I get lots of fresh seafood in Thailand. Just grill them in the oven and you have the perfect meal for your evening! Today I just made a very simple marinade which consists of olive oil, lemon juice, chili powder and fresh coriander. It only took me less than 10 mins to make this. well, you have to butterfly the prawns but it is not bad at all. This way they cook so much quicker!
This is why we hardly go out these days. We can cook so perfectly at home and I know exactly what kind of ingredients we are using!
