Easy to cook protein naan with resistant starch
I am not much of a sweet tooth person to be honest, and often I just want to eat some snacks to satisfy my savoury needs. So I came up with this amazingly simple snack. Protein naan!!! (coz it is kinda boring to call everything pancakes!)
Pretty impressive macros: 30g of protein, 5g of fat, 2g of carb!?!
This comes from:
- 32g of unflavoured whey isolates
- 1 tsp of home made ghee made from grass fed butter
- 1 tsp of home made green banana flour
- A pinch of baking powder
- Water (depends on your protein powder but it should not be too runny)
Melt the ghee in your pan and just pour the batter in! Just follow your instinct. BAM! That’s all! Sprinkle a bit of pink salt and wow it is delicious! It’s a bit like pita but ghee makes it taste like a naan bread!
I will write a separate post on green banana flour – I love this flour coz it is resistant starch. I won’t go into details here, but it is a type of starch that is NOT digested in the stomach, reaching the colon intact. This means you don’t get much calories from this – may be half of it – and it feeds your gut flora as prebiotics. How cool is that! So it is great to eat it in the evening like this. This became my favorite non-gluten flour lately, but I have to make it by myself. How ironic – I live in a country where bananas grow like weeds. But nobody seems to make this powder!
If you are not dairy intolerant, feel free to make it with normal butter. Spread some more butter on top to it if you wish, or put some nut butter, cheese, you name it. But here, I am just introducing lean, high protein snack! 😀
(Actually I had a tablespoon of home made almond milk AFTER eating this pancake. I love eating it separately – it is heavenly. It is a shame to eat it together. I just appreciate tasting the nut butter alone without adding anything!)
If you wanna make it different: add some garlic to make it into protein garlic naan! Or something simple but classy, put a bit of rosemary as you heat up the ghee, remove, and make the pancake. It is gorgeous!
